Pan-Orthodox Liturgy and Episcopal Ordination

Pan-Orthodox Liturgy
and
Ordination of H.G. Bishop Iakovos of Claudiopolis

On the Sunday of Orthodoxy (21st March 2021), our church had the great blessing of hosting the annual Pan-Orthodox Divine Liturgy, which aims to bring together clergy and faithful from different Orthodox Christian jurisdictions in common worship as an expression of our dogmatic, spiritual, and sacramental unity as one undivided Orthodox Catholic Church.

Joining our Archbishop, H. E. Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain (Ecumenical Patriarchate), were Metropolitan Silouan of the Patriarchate of Antioch and Archbishop Zenon of the Patriarchate of Georgia. The Divine Liturgy of St Basil the Great was celebrated in a variety of languages, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of both the clergy and the socially distanced congregation.

During the Divine Liturgy, the faithful witnessed the moving and historic ordination of H.G. Iakovos of Claudiopolis, currently based at the church of St Nicholas in Cardiff, as one of two new assistant bishops of our Archdiocese.

HE Ioannis Raptakis, Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic, HE Andreas Kakouris, the High Commissioner of Cyprus, HE Aleksandra Joksimovic, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, HE Theodoros Gkotsis, the Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in London, Mr Athanasios Demetriou, the Naval Attaché of the Hellenic Defence in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Archons of the Great Church of Christ and representatives of various community organisations were also present.
