Our Clergy
The Revd Œconomos Kristian Akselberg
Fr Kristian was born in Oslo, Norway. He moved to the United Kingdom in 1998 and was received into the Orthodox Church at St Andrew’s in May 2005. After serving our church as a reader (18/11/07) and subdeacon (13/03/12), he was ordained to the diaconate (15/12/13) and priesthood (11/05/14) by His Grace Bishop Chrystostomos of Kyanea (now Metropolitan of Heliopolis). He was later elevated to the ranks of confessor (25/12/17) and œconomos (18/03/18). He holds a BA Hons in the Study of Religions from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and an MSt and DPhil in Theology from Pembroke College, University of Oxford.
Subdeacon Antonis Ioannou
Mr Ioannou comes from Kalograia, a village in the Kyrenia district of Cyprus. He was ordained to the subdiaconate by H.G. Chrysostomos of Kyanea.
Subdeacon Valentin Irofte
Mr Irofte comes from Oneşti, Romania. He was ordained to the subdiaconate on 12/01/14 by H.G. Chrysostomos of Kyanea. He is also sexton of the church, and works in the church office most afternoons.
Subdeacon Ioan Hoshi
Mr Hoshi is from Japan. He was ordained to the subdiaconate on 18/03/18 by H.G. Chrysostomos of Kyanea.
Head Chanter, Mr Angelos Achtinoudis
Mr Achtinoudis hails from Souroti near Thessaloniki, Greece. He is an accomplished chanter, having started his musical career under the tutelage of Protopsaltis Nestor Papalexiou of the Church of Our Lady in Thessaloniki, and later under the Archon of the Ecumenical Throne, Abraham Efthymiades. He holds a degree in Ecclesiastical, European and Folk Music, and is also a teacher at the Archdiocesan School of Byzantine Music in North London. He took up the position of Protopsaltis at St Andrew’s 21/05/17.
Second Chanter, Mr Andreas Mirallais
Mr Mirallais comes from Lefkosia, Cyprus, and is currently a medical student at University College London. He also studied Byzantine chant at the Archdiocesan School of Byzantine Music in North London under the tutelage of Dr Demetrios Skrekas. He was tonsured reader by His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain 30/11/19.
