Visit of the Relics of St Demetrios the New
On the feast of St John Chrysostom, our church had the great blessing of hosting the sacred relics of St Demetrios the New of Tripoli.
The saint had been beheaded for his faith by Muslim Turks during the Ottoman occupation of Greece, and the presence of his sacred skull was a powerful reminder of his heroic confession for all those present.
The relics were accompanied by Fr Evgenios Tsaramanides (St Panteleimon’s Church, Harrow) and Fr Ioannis Sourlingas (Tripoli, Greece), who spoke to the faithful about the life and death of the holy New Martyr.
